If you’ve never tried moonshine before, this is an excellent place to start (and how can you say no to that classic hip flask?). Distilled mostly from New York State corn with a little malted barley from Scotland, it tastes a bit like buttered sweet corn and it’s very easy to drink. Maybe too easy.
While moonshine was, once upon a time, associated with bootleggers and bathtub gin, today it's just a fun name for a spirit with a spirit of its own, one that doesn't really fit into the classic categories. It's indie at its finest! And our neighbors at Kings County wrote the book on making moonshine in a big city. Yes, an actual book – called “Guide to Urban Moonshining." So it’s no surprise that their version is one of the best we’ve tried.
tip of the tongue
Try it mixed with lemonade or iced tea for classic refreshment.
