Santa Barbara County Syrah 2014

MADE BY KUNIN WINES IN SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA

MOUTH SAYS...

This Syrah is like the best pal you always wish you had. Approachable, fun, easygoing, loves food and is always down to meet up no matter the occasion. (You know, like the gang on “Friends.”)

It’s round and juicy, with lots of red fruit and a Mouth-watering acidity that makes it super food-friendly, but it also does well flying solo. It’s our new go-to.

Seth Kunin started Kunin Wines in 1998, with a focus on Syrah, Zinfandel and Viognier. Over the years, he added additional Rhone and Loire Valley varieties such as Grenache, Mourvèdre, Roussanne, Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc, but no addition has been more important than his wife and business partner Magan and their daughter Phoebe! No, not that Phoebe.

Kunin Wines only produces about 5,000 cases per year, so get your bottle before it marries Chandler, adopts twins and leaves the apartment to move to Westchester. Otherwise, you won’t be able to hang out with it anymore.

TIP OF THE TONGUE

This full-bodied red is crying out for a plate of cheese and charcuterie. Pair with a hunk of buttery, sharp Hunter Cheddar and some thick slices of Black Truffle Salami. Monica approved.
