The Bird, Flora and Fauna Red 2015

With aromas of black cherry, anise, fresh strawberry and spicy floral notes, plus a fresh and bright mouthfeel, this is one bottle of red you won't forget anytime soon. It's the kind of wine that you might serve a little chilled on a hot day, and that can be almost too easy to drink.

Idlewild’s blended red is inspired by rustic house wines in Italy, which are typically light, aromatic and well-balanced. The 2015 rendition of The Bird, Flora & Fauna is 35% Dolcetto, 30% Nebbiolo and 35% Barbera, deliciously fruity and fragrant varieties.

They made just 575 cases of this one, so claim a bottle or two ASAP.

Idlewild is part of the ever-growing Seven Percent Solution, a movement that highlights the 7% of California vineyard acreage that isn't planted to the eight most common grape varieties. Small has never been so big.

This food-friendly red is incredibly versatile, so we just as readily pour it with our delivery pizza as we do with a grilled ribeye.

did you know?

"Flora and fauna" loosely means the collection of plant and animal life of a certain place. For Idlewild’s Sam Bilbro, the collection of grape varietals from the cellar make up their Flora and Fauna.
