Subduction Red 2013

MADE BY SYNCLINE WINERY IN LYLE, WASHINGTON

MOUTH SAYS...

If your idea of a dream getaway is a week hopping between villages in the Côtes du Rhône (or, backup plan, between shops in Epcot's France Pavilion), have we got the wine for you! Rich and juicy, Subduction Red has flavors of blackberry, olive and rose, with a long, lingering finish.

This blend of classic southern French varieties (39% Syrah, 19% Mourvedre, 15% Carignan, 12% Counoise, 11% Grenache, 4% Cinsault) is aged in a mix of 10% new French oak barrels and 90% concrete tanks for 11 months. But instead of hailing from France, this wine comes from Washington State – Seattle is basically the new Lyon, right?

The grapes are carefully chosen from vineyards throughout Horse Heaven Hills, Red Mountain and Yakima Valley – a real taste of the Columbia Valley. No passport required.

tip of the tongue

This wine may sound a little fancy (raise your hand if you can pronounce "Counoise"), but it's actually one of our favorite things to pair with pizza, especially one topped with spicy sausage and olives.
