Yes, you read that right. Smoked. Chocolate. Chips.
These organic semi-sweet chocolate chips are cold-smoked over alder wood for more than 5 hours, moved every 30 minutes to ensure an even smoke. Chocolatier Autumn Martin was inspired by her childhood love of smoked salmon and all other smoky flavors (she's a fourth-generation Washingtonian, after all). Now, she's inspiring us to come up with ways to use these complex bits of chocolate. Mostly we just like eating them out of that awesome looking jar.

At Martin's Hot Cakes Molten Chocolate Cakery, they use these chips in s'mores cookies (graham-cookie base, smoked chocolate chips and sweet marshmallows). Of course they will add distinction to your favorite chocolate-chip cookie, but you should also try melting them down into a ganache for cupcakes or brownies, or adding them to Mexican mole sauce.
