Mr. Katz's Rock & Rye Whiskey
In this modern take on an old-timey American classic, young rye whiskey is mixed with rock candy sugar, sour cherries, cinnamon and touch of citrus to create a spirit that's both a cocktail in a bottle and also an amazing ingredient for mixology.
Once upon a time rye whiskey was often too harsh to drink on it's own so people (like Grandpa Katz) would dissolve rock candy into their glass to make it go down a bit easier. This version adds a touch of fruit and spice to bring out a medley of flavor and update the tradition.
Mr. Katz refers not only to New York Distilling founder Allen Katz, but also to his grandfather who was a big rock & rye fan and the young Mr. Katz's inspiration for trying his hand at a modern re-invention.
