One Mint Julep

One Mint Julep

You can bet on our indie version of the classic Kentucky Derby cocktail.

We worked with our friend, Ana Gasteyer (of SNL fame), to create a winning cocktail for her swanky take on the 50's song, "One Mint Julep."

The secret? Add maple syrup and use a spicy rye whiskey, rather than the usual bourbon.

Try One Mint Julep for yourself. Bottoms up!

One Mint Julep

For the mint syrup
½ cup water
½ cup sugar
3-4 sprigs mint

For the cocktail
2 ounces Cacoctin Creek Roundstone Rye
.25 ounces Bobo’s Vermont Dark Maple Syrup
.25 ounces mint syrup
Mint sprig, for garnish
Steve & Andy’s Candied Orange Peels, for garnish

1. Make the mint syrup: In a saucepan, bring water and sugar to a boil. Cook until sugar dissolves, about 2 minutes. Remove from heat, add mint sprigs and let steep 15 minutes. Strain and refrigerate until ready to use.
2. To make the cocktail, add rye, maple syrup and mint syrup to a chilled highball filled with crushed ice. Stir until blended and well chilled.
3. Top with more crushed ice, and garnish with mint sprig and candied orange peel.

And you’re off to the races…

Our goal is to always send out the freshest possible small-batch goodies. Occasionally we'll ship something slightly different than what's listed here, but we promise it will be equally delicious!
