Love Me or Leave Me Rogue Valley Gewürztraminer 2015
We’re pretty sure you’ll love this wine so much, the only place you’ll want to leave it is open on the kitchen counter because it’ll be gone before you can say “Gewürztraminer” five times fast.
Gewürz is German for “spice,” and this elegant Gewürztraminer (named after Nina Simone’s rendition of the classic show tune) has beautiful spicy notes to compliment hints of smoke, burnt orange peel, rosewater and raw sugar cane. It’s got some residual sugar, so you’ll think it’s sweet at first, but the acid is high enough that it actually finishes on the drier side. It’s also got a big, soft, round Mouth-feel, so it isn’t totally bone dry – it’s so complex, you’ll want to keep sipping again and again. Oops, it’s gone.
The Oregon soil where this heartbreaker grows is the most complex in Ovum’s portfolio, and benefits from being a catch zone for a former gold mine! Factor in the 40-year old Gewürztraminer vines with lower, but concentrated yields, and you’ve got a bottle of liquid gold.
A real wine geek's secret crowd-pleaser.
