We’ve long been known for small-batch sundae fixings and unique toppers, but what inspired us to get into the ‘scream game? That would be Normal Ice Cream, a Salt Lake City-based maker whose flavors are anything but. They wowed our tasting team with smooth and fruity olive oil, sweet and buttery corn, electrifying malted coffee and milk chocolate. Milk chocolate? Believe us when we say this unexpectedly potent pint was really something special, in order to be selected over more eccentric flavors!

Makes a great gift for someone’s who’s definition of “normal” when it comes to treats is still deliciously off-kilter. 

Off the Cob: This is maker Alexa’s personal fave, and it’s easy to (taste) why. She drew on her skills as a pastry chef to create an unexpected marriage of sweet and earthy corn, playing off tart and punchy passion fruit caramel. 

Malted Coffee: What gives this coffee-based flavor its kick? That would be good old instant Folgers, which Alexa insists is simply the best java for the job. But what really takes the ice cream over the top is house-made malted milk balls and salted caramel. 

Olive Oil: Greek Olea olive oil is harvested from family-owned groves in Sparta, before finding its way into this impossibly smooth ice cream. 

Milk Chocolate: Our tasters described this ice cream as tasting like rich chocolate mousse or frozen hot chocolate thanks to 62% Satilia from Valrhona, which lends it a surprisingly complex bittersweet quality and nuanced almond notes.
