We think they’re pretty weize guys for using a fermented beverage to preserve fresh veggies – the subtly yeasty, sometimes effervescent flavor power of beer seems an obvious match for vinegar and pickling spices.
The low-alcohol, not-very-hoppy wheat beer in these B&Bs is sourced from Drake’s Brewing Company, a nearby California craft brewery, and is blended with sweet cider vinegar. But it’s not too sweet, because these cucumbers are pickled with two-thirds the amount of sugar you might find in grocery store jars.
