The first time we passed this thick small-batch hot sauce around our tasting table, we all agreed... The bottle must be exaggerating—it’s not that hot. In fact, if anything it was smoky from the chipotle pepper powder and a touch sweet from tomato and mango purée. But then the heat slowly crept up on us and continued to haunt long after our tasting spoons were empty... just like a ghost! We all kept coming back again and again for that smoky, slightly sweet, fiery awesomeness.
Tip of the Tongue:
Small Axe Peppers suggests carefully adding this hot sauce to chili, pozole, gumbo, or any slow-cooked meal, but we could easily imagine it on pretty much near anything. Our morning scramble, our Sunday Bloodies, a fish curry, Chinese fried rice, a juicy burger… honestly nothing is safe from this heat, boo!
