This is the American answer to Italian Campari that we’ve been waiting for.

Thirty years ago, St. George Spirits only distilled eau de vie, old-school un-aged brandy . As the company has grown, it has stayed true to founder Jörg Rupf’s passion and dedication. St. George really brings a spirit of adventure to everything , from a trio of innovative gins to a distinctive single malt whiskey (yes, an American single malt).

The exact recipe for Bruto Americano Aperitivo is proprietary, so we don’t know the precise measurements or ingredients. What we do know is that its bitterness comes mostly from gentian root (an herb from the Alps and the Himalayas, used for digestion); the citrus notes from California-grown Seville orange; and the woodsy notes from balsam fir and Cascara sagrada (bark from the California buckthorn shrub).

Vibrant citrus with notes of cinnamon, sandalwood, and forest on the nose? One sip and we’re in some kinda Fellini dream.

Yes, this Aperitivo is crying out to be used in a Negroni or a spritz, but we are also smitten with it poured over one big ice cube wearing nothing but an orange peel. Oh, and there will be Asiago Black Pepper Cheesy Puffs, because we’re fancy like that.

24% alcohol by volume; comes in a 750ml bottle.
