Bourbon Ginger Pecan Pie

TGI- Pie day! We’ve searched pie and low… and after countless taste tests (tough job, we know) it’s pie time we proudly present to you the winning, all-star holiday pie team of 2016.

This Bourbon Ginger Pie won top prize at the 1st Annual Brooklyn Pie Bake-Off, which inspired Allison (one of the duo behind Butter & Scotch) to found her first pie company, First Prize Pies. The rest is history. This award-winning, kickstarter pie is made with organic Texan pecans, local maple syrup and lots of ginger (fresh, ground and candied). A healthy dose of the finest top-shelf Kentucky bourbon makes this pie a very special treat!

Bakers Allison Kave and Keavy Landreth of Butter & Scotch, have been with Mouth practically from the start! They got us hooked with their addictive boozy caramel corns, then opened a bakery-slash-bar in our borough (we love our neighborhood!). That’s where they serve slices of this incredible pie, plus more spirits-infused baked goods and craft cocktails.

The holidays just got a whole lot easier. Don’t leave us pie and dry…

Tip of the tongue

Serve warm or at room temperature, top with a dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle with a dash of Bourbon Smoked Sugar for an extra boozy kick. If you’re not enjoying your pie immediately (what restraint!), wrap in plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to one week, or in the freezer for up to one month.  (You know Aunt Lil will be poking around for leftovers after everyone’s gone to bed.)

Can’t be with your family during the holidays? Send them a pie to show them you care about them from all the way across the country.
