Sports Illustrated says...
"If they're not into whiskey, they'll love this over-proof spirit that’s created using a top-secret distilling process."
After one taste we knew we had to have this gin in our collection.
This is a true masterpiece of a gin. More than a dozen herbs and fruits go into the botanical mix, a modern style in which the Juniper is in harmony with the other botanicals. The complex distillation involves multiple steps for different ingredients (it's so complex, each distilling run produces fewer than 300 bottles). Much of the process is top-secret, but our favorite part (shhh) is that the over-proof spirit is brought to the right level of heat by adding cucumber water made with Persian cucumbers (only the best!).
The genius distiller behind it, Farid Dormishian, is a professional biochemist who first turned to distilling (and winemaking!) as a hobby, but eventually found himself so obsessed he had to do it full time. He's just getting started and we can't wait to see what he does next. Meanwhile, we'll just have to pour a little more of this incredible gin.
tip of the tongue
Invite some friends over for a Cucumber Gin Cooler: Combine 8 oz gin, 8 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice, 1/2 cup of thinly sliced Persian or Kirby cucumbers (scrubbed, not peeled) and a small amount of ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake hard until very cold and pour into 4 glasses filled halfway with ice. Top with tonic water (we highly recommend Q tonic) and garnish with lime wedges.
Did you know?
Gin can be infused with a wide variety of botanicals, but it MUST contain juniper berries, which are responsible for that distinct, piney, gin-y flavor.
