Billsboro Pinot Noir 2013

Pinot Noir is having a very long moment, but we've noticed that it's gotten harder and harder to find a great one at a decent price point. Enter Billsboro! This stunner from the Finger Lakes has all the beautiful red fruit flavors, bright acidity and moderate tannins a wine snob could want, and it won't break the bank.

The grapes are grown at Sawmill Creek Vineyards on the southeastern slopes of Seneca Lake. They're hand-picked and gently crushed, then fermented in open top fermenters. The warm growing season shows up in the added complexity of this wine, and aging in a combination of neutral and French oak barrels for 9 months doesn't hurt either.

We try not to get too hung up on the point system, but we feel the need to brag that this wine earned 90 points from Wine Enthusiast and a Gold Medal at the 2014 New York Wine & Food Classic.

tip of the tongue

Pinot Noir is one of our favorite varieties to pair with casual (or fancy!) Italian food. So break out Pasta Night and open up a bottle of this delicious red!
