Caramel Apple Pie

MADE BY BUTTER & SCOTCH IN BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

MOUTH SAYS...

TGI- Pie day! We’ve searched pie and low… and after countless taste tests (tough job, we know) it’s pie time we proudly present to you the winning, all-star holiday pie team of 2016.

Not the typical apple pie you’ll find at your local market, this Caramel Apple pie is made with all New York apples, slathered in a spiced caramel sauce and wrapped in an all-butter crust. Drool. The ingredients are wholesome, with no preservatives –  apples, butter and flour with the perfect ratio of fruit to dough (70/30), and just enough salty, buttery crust to accent the natural sweetness of the fruit.

Bakers Allison Kave and Keavy Landreth, the duo behind Butter & Scotch, have been with Mouth practically from the start! They got us hooked with their addictive boozy caramel corns, then opened a bakery-slash-bar in our borough (we love our neighborhood!). That’s where they serve slices of this incredible pie, along with spirits-infused baked goods and craft cocktails.

The holiday season just got a whole lot easier. Don’t leave us pie and dry…

Tip of the tongue

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and grate some maple sugar over the top for some added fall flavor. If you’re not enjoying your pie immediately (what restraint!), wrap in plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to one week, or in the freezer for up to a month. (You know Uncle Mike will be poking around for leftovers after everyone’s gone to bed.)

Can’t be with your family during the holidays? Send them a pie to show them you care about them from all the way across the country.
