One wintery day many years ago, Santa was skipping down Candy Cane Lane, juggling his ho-ho-hot chocolate. Rudolph came galloping up to say hello and accidentally knocked a candy cane into Santa’s mug. This proved to be a very jolly surprise – this new hot cocoa combo was mint to be. It’s become a classic.
We’re all about minty mashups here at Mouth. It’s why we’re obsessed with the Chocolate Mint Chip Gelato Bar crafted by the creative geniuses at TCHO chocolate. They teamed up with their neighbor Gelateria Naia to fill a bar with chunks of astronaut mint ice cream. This year we were taking bites of a bar and washing it down with our hot chocolate when the urge to conduct a scientific experiment hit. We just had to melt it! The result is out of this world – astronaut ice cream pieces floating like icebergs in a swirling sea of hot cocoa. Mint chip hot cocoa, à la mode. It’s safe to say we’ll be sipping this all winter (or should we call it minter?).
Mint Chip Gelato Cocoa
1 Chocolate Mint Chip Gelato Bar
2/3 cup milk
- Break chocolate bar into pieces.
- Place chocolate pieces in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
- Add milk and whisk constantly until chocolate is melted and well-blended, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Serve in a mug.
Get that (mint) chip off your shoulder and into your Mouth!
