Healthy(Ish) Crunchy, Crispy Snacks You Won’t Feel Bad About Finishing

If you’re like us, you know how hard it is to stop yourself from polishing off an entire bag of something crunchy. And every year we make the same resolution: eat healthy(er), which, sadly, sometimes means putting down the bag of chips. Well, where’s the fun in that?

We’re not about depriving ourselves of the joy of shaking the last remnants into our Mouths, which is why we’ve put together a collection of healthy-ish snacks you won’t feel bad about finishing.

Take these Smoky Crunchy Split Peas made by North River Dry Goods, for example. If this kind of masterpiece doesn’t turn your Mouth's attention away from overly salty barbecue potato chips, we don’t know what will.

David Enteman, founder of North River, apparently shares our passion for snacking. In a little West Village, New York City kitchen just blocks from the Hudson River (once called the North River), his crunchy split peas were perfected.

For centuries, peas have been used as a crucial source of protein and are an awesome crop for the earth (they actually return nutrients to the soil!). David roasts yellow split peas in non-GMO expeller pressed canola oil (the good stuff) then sprinkles them with a little sea salt, onion powder, paprika, chipotle pepper and a few other secret spices.

Not only do we adore David’s split-peas, we totally heart his philosophy: "By keeping food simple, we're keeping your mouth and body happy.” He picked the name “North River Dry Goods” as a throwback to the good ole days when food was simpler. Indeed, with a few simple ingredients, he’s managed to transform humble garden peas into something extraordinary. Packed with nutrients, protein (7 grams per serving!), and fiber, these addictive treats make for totally guilt-free snacking.

Well, that’s one resolution that just got easier to keep.
