Tailgating parties conjure images of delicious, greasy party foods like pimento cheese dip, buffalo wings with ranch dressing, juicy hamburgers, and then – shudder – lite beer. We’re all for kicking back, ordering a pizza, shouting at screens and getting our dip on, but, this year, we’re going to skip the Bud Light in favor of something a little more… quality.
If, like us, you and your teammates just can’t deal with crummy hooch anymore and like to pair something a little more top-shelf with your 7 Layer Dip, you’ve come to the right place. Below, three boozy options from craft distillers that will make watching football something to actually look forward to.
This football season, whiskey is the way to go. This trio of small-batch whiskeys is perfect for slowing down and sipping solo, but we also love pouring a shot into ginger beer or cola.
In this expertly-drafted lineup you’ll get:
WhipperSnapper Oregon Spirit Whiskey: A blend of two whiskeys that get combined then split into a variety of barrels for aging. This young, ambitious whiskey with more character than most whiskeys 10 times its age pairs perfectly with fried mozzarella sticks.
Johnny Smoking Gun Whiskey: A blend of corn whiskey (70%) and rye (30%). It's also steeped with a blend of three Asian teas, including Lapsang Souchong, which gives it a smoky finish – truly unique East meets West expression. We especially love sipping alongside a massive handful of BBQ potato chips.
Football fantasy #goals: Sitting on the back of a pickup truck at Lambeau Field, grilling hotdogs and sipping whiskey out of a flask. Good news! That could be you.
We've partnered with our friends at Kings County Distillery to create this one-of-a-kind wooden box of three of our favorite whiskeys (that, yes, come in tailgate-ready flasks). For this special lineup, we chose a super smooth bourbon that's one of the best we've ever had, and a spicy, unique peated bourbon that showcases everything we love about the distillery's unique but respectful take on the classics. For the third bottle, we chose their classic, nostalgic flask of moonshine.
There’s always a tequila-loving party animal in the group, and with this trio of small-batch picks, the fiesta comes to them.
We’ve handpicked three of our favorites: Arette Blanco Tequila, known for its floral, herbal and citrus notes; Siete Leguas Reposado Tequila, which is rested (reposado = "rested") in barrels to create notes similar to whiskey or bourbon; and ArteNOM Añejo Tequila, which is a rich, smooth tequila the color of caramel with rounded notes of spice, smoke, toasted nuts and vanilla. We recommend sipping these straight, but if you’re in the mood to shoot, we won’t get in the line of fire.
Now who’s playing again?
