Eat, Drink And Be indie: Tasty Recipes, Inspiring Maker Stories & Exclusives

An Important Article About the Brooklyn Food Scene

We know you’re as interested in the indie food scene as we are, right? So if you didn’t catch it, we urge you to take a moment and read Crain’s recent post about the industry, “Brooklyn's Fancy Artisanal-Food Businesses Are Getting Chewed Up.”

Crain’s reports that many of the entrepreneurs who created the companies that helped launch the artisanal food production scene in 2008 and who also truly helped feed New York City’s manufacturing revival are now finding their dreams wiped out by heaps of regulations and soaring rents.

It’s a really well researched article that shows how the romance of starting a food biz isn’t always the reality.

I am proud that Mouth is part of this local eco-system, that we're doing our part get these products out there, and help build consumer demand for them. One of our core missions, since Day One, is to help independent makers survive and grow. The piece also lifts the veil a little bit about why our products might cost more than what’s at your corner store.
