Ryan Farr founded 4505 Meats in San Francisco on the back of a single product: chicharrones, crispy pork skins kettle-cooked in rich lard. The swine-loving team works with small farmers and ranchers who raise animals with great care and attention, and have grown their business since 2009 to include a brick-and-mortar butcher shop offering steaks, hot dogs, sausages and butchery classes, plus a flagship burger and BBQ restaurant.

Farr has also started a really great philanthropy program called "Feed the Pig." San Francisco-area organizations can apply to receive a month of support from donations and a certain percentage of that month's sales at all 4505 Meats locations.

Doing good and making good food? Now that's going whole hog.
