Eat, Drink And Be indie: Tasty Recipes, Inspiring Maker Stories & Exclusives Served Daily

Van Brunt Stillhouse

Husband-and-wife team Daric Schlesselman and Sarah Ludington started this small indie distillery in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn which has seen a rebirth of its pre-Prohibition distilling roots. They take pride in both the great history they are rekindling (they named the distillery after Cornelius Van Brunt who was one of the Dutch founders of Breuckelen) and the quality of the ingredients they use to produce their small batches of craft spirits. And despite their tiny size they produce several spirits, rotating their production so they can create a line of products including grappa, rum and a growing family of whiskeys.
