High West Distillery

David Perkins started out as a biochemist who loved food and drink, which led him to find work at distilleries in Scotland & Kentucky. Although he was originally from Georgia, he fell in love with Utah and loved the challenge of distilling there.

High West is the first legal distillery in Utah since the 1870s, and they now have their distillery and pub right next to the Park City ski lift. As they grow, they plan to also distill eau de vie from local fruit in addition to their whiskey, which comes both from their own still and from carefully selected and blended barrels from bigger distilleries.
