Ransom Spirits was started by Tad Seestedt in 1997 with his life savings and a bunch of credit cards.
He began producing small amounts of brandy, both aged an un-aged, then began producing wines in 1999. Seestedt isn't afraid to tackle under-appreciated styles. He revived an almost extinct style of gin with his Old Tom, and his Gewurztraminer Grappa practically reinvents the category.
Ransom proudly proclaims their core values as “historicity, craftsmanship, and terroir” and you taste all three in every spirit they produce.
And the name? It's a nod to the great debt he took on to follow his dream! The reward is in the risk, as they say.
