Philadelphia Distilling

Founded in 2005, Philadelphia Distilling was the first craft distillery to open in Pennsylvania since Prohibition. Robert Cassell was working at craft brewery Victory Brewing Company when he started to get excited by the idea of learning how to distill. He took a course in Scotland to learn the basics, then launched his micro-distillery in an industrial office park.

Cassell, along with other crafter distillers, successfully lobbied to change the law barring small distilleries from selling their liquor on-site, a tremendous boon to craft distilleries throughout the state.
