Phil Prichard knew there was a great distilling tradition in his family. As far back as 1822, Benjamin Prichard upon his death passed his “still, tubs and utensils thereto” to his son Enoch. Five generations later and after long experimentation at home (to the consternation of his wife), Phil realized he had what it takes to rekindle his family history. He opened his own distillery in 1997, and it was the first legal distillery built in Tennessee in nearly 50 years. Now, his whiskeys and rums are recognized as some of the best in the U.S. and are a great restoration of a nearly-lost tradition.
