Woodworker Peter Cavanaugh grew up in his grandpa’s custom harpsichord workshop (what a childhood!). So the guy knows his way around a piece of wood, carving and sanding and smoothing to create gorgeous jewelry, magnets, cutting and serving boards in his workshop in the Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn.

His serving boards are a true work of art. Peter works with designer Sarahana Shrestha to get the shape, proportions and handles right, then he selects the type of wood and takes care to preserve eye-catching grains within each slab.

Peter mixes dark heartwood with light sapwood, so we can really see the wood for the trees! maker website:
