The distillery splits malted barley into three batches, each of which gets a different type of smoke – peat, cherry wood or beechwood. Then it's all pot distilled together, in small batches, and aged in new American oak barrels to mellow out the fire. It has the great rich, big barrel notes of wood and vanilla, but with a beautiful smokiness riding on top.
Try it in a Rob Roy: Combine 2 oz whiskey with 1 oz Quady Winery's Vya Sweet Vermouth and 2 dashes Hella Bitters Aromatic Bitters over ice in a cocktail shaker. Stir and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
