Raw Sage Honey



When we opened up a jar of this sage honey, we knew it was a very wise choice (get it?). Each little pot of luscious crystallized gold comes from Rainbow, California, where bees buzz around local sage flowers and impart a hint of that savory herb to their honey. It's sweet but not too cloying, so we're spooning it on everything.

Urban beekeeper David Bock and his two sons started Buzzed Honeys with their own hive in their own Los Angeles yard (the kids even picked the company name – cute, right?). Thanks to the California Homemade Food Act passed in 2012, small makers like the Bock family can legally sell their goods out of their homes as certified Cottage Food Operations. And nowadays, they're sourcing unique varietals from all across California, Oregon, Nebraska and Wisconsin, and packaging them in bee-utifully labeled jars.

Drizzle sage honey over Jan's Farmhouse Crisps topped with dried figs and Prescott cow's milk cheese from Robinson Farm. Mix up a cocktail we're calling the Wise Mouth: pour 2 oz Art in the Age Sage "gin" over ice, top up with club soda, and add a drizzle of this honey with a fresh sage leaf for garnish!
