The Montreal-based spice experts of Epices de Cru (officially known as 'spice trekkers') craft their blends from whole spices and store them in charming metal tins to best preserve aroma and flavor. Ras-el-hanout – loosely translated from Arabic as “top of the shop” – is the blend which defines the reputation of the shop, the signature dish, so to speak. It's also the blend that won us over, truly an intoxicating mix of dried roses, and saffron, warm spices and herbs, chiles and sweet aromatics. 

Tip of the Tongue

First, pause to admire. This blend is truly exquisite. Add a dash to anything from tomato sauce to chicken stew to give it a hint of Moroccan flavor. The Spice Trekkers even suggest using it as a secret ingredient in ice cream. And you know we are suckers for that chic French tin – truly counter-worthy.
