Peanut Butter Cookies

MADE BY GREY GHOST BAKERY IN CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA

MOUTH SAYS...

Tender, chewy, super-nutty, just the right kind of crunchy – this is our one true peanut butter cookie. It's our sole, delicious lifeline straight back to afternoons spent helping out in the kitchen, armed with a jar of our favorite PB (crunchy! no, creamy!) and a bag of sugar.

You can even see the marks on top where head baker Katherine Frankstone presses each cookie with a fork. These are handmade, and they taste homemade.

We love a good ghost story. We also love a good cookie. Grey Ghost Bakery serves up both! This family-run baking company is named after the legendary ghost of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, who is said to alert residents to impending storms.

tip of the tongue

The maker suggests crumbling them for an icebox pie crust. We think banana pudding topped with Drunken Monkey Jam should do the trick.
