When Allison Walla first moved to Brooklyn, she introduced herself to new neighbors with the midwestern charm of freshly baked and beautifully presented cookies. Starting with humble ingredients – butter, flour, sugar – Allison has played with some remarkably delicious ingredient combinations to create these inventive and sophisticated (but not fussy) labors of love. Butter + love.

Sweet and Savory Jam Sandwich Cookies

Allison layers marionberry preserves between two square, lightly-salted rosemary butter cookies. (FYI: Marionberries are a berry native to Portland, OR and taste like a cross between a blueberry, a raspberry, and a blackberry – how much more could we love that?). For the next variety in the basket, she combines strawberry preserves with a hint of balsamic reduction and sets it between two square butter cookies flecked and flavored with fresh marjoram.

Sweet Jam Sandwich Cookies

Raspberry preserves are spread between two perfectly round butter cookies subtly flavored with lemon zest. The second variety in the basket combines blackberry preserves with two lime-zested round butter cookies.
