When these gorgeous, buttery, gooey sandwich cookies came across our tasting table, there was no debate: they were a must-carry. Made in the style of traditional Argentine alfajores, they are handmade in Long Island by Angie herself, and are as good as (dare we say better than?) the best Argentina has to offer. Just-cakey-enough, rich butter cookies plus a slather of just-sweet-enough caramel equals one killer treat.
We love these sweet, crumbly cookies alongside a cup of coffee or tea.
Classic Alfajores: flour, cornstarch, butter, sugar, eggs, baking powder, baking soda, lemon zest, honey, vanilla, non-fat milk, glucose, soybean oil. Each cookie measure approximately 3.5" across.
